Las ventas de coches en Europa en 2009

Hace unos días, la ACEA (Asociación Europea de Fabricantes de Automóviles) publicó las cifras de ventas de coches nuevos correspondientes a 2009. El cómputo final ha quedado lejos de los malos presagios de principio de año: gracias al sesgo provocado por las ayudas estatales de algunos países, las ventas totales han conseguido mantenerse en cifras muy similares al año 2008.

En la Europa de los 15, las ventas subieron un 0.9 %; la Europa de los 27, que incluye a los países del este europeo, tuvo que encajar un pequeño descenso del 1.3%; y si hacemos el total sumando las países adscritos al EFTA (Tratado de libre comercio europeo) el temido descalabro se queda en un soportable descenso del 1.6% respecto al año anterior, el nefasto 2008. En total, 14.4 millones de coches nuevos frente a los 14.7 millones de 2008.

Echando un vistazo al desglose por países, se observa que solo 6 de ellos han concluido el año en cifras positivas: Austria, Francia, Alemania, Republica Checa, Polonia y Eslovaquia. El mejor resultado lo consigue Alemania (+23,2 %). España y Gran Bretaña, a pesar de las ayudas gubernamentales, acaban el año con caídas del 17.9 %y el 6.4 %, respectivamente. A Italia, las ayudas solo le han servido para mantener el tipo, prácticamente igualando los numeros de 2008.

Viendo los registros del resto de países, uno acaba con la sensación de que alguien se ha equivocado en las suma total. Todos son cifras negativas, algunas de auténtica impresión: Finlandia cae un 35,2 %, Irlanda baja un 62.1 %, Dinamarca un 25.3 %, Portugal un 24,6%. Si seguimos bajando por la lista nos adentramos en el reino del terror: Lituania cae un 67.4 %, Estonia un 66.2 %, Rumania un 59.4 %, Bulgaria desciende un 49.3 %.

Islandia y Letonia llegan hasta las mismas puertas del infierno con caídas en las ventas del 77.6 % y el 80.5 % respectivamente. De casi 20.000 unidades matriculadas en 2008, Letonia ha pasado a vender poco más de 3.700. Islandia (hasta hace poco uno de los estados más prósperos del mundo) ha bajado de 9.000 coches a solo 2.000.

¿Europa ha conseguido capear el temporal del 2009? Los datos globales parecen afirmarlo así, pero creo que en honor a la verdad, seria mas honrado afirmar que ha sido el mercado alemán (que vendió 700.000 coches más gracias a las ayudas del gobierno) el que realmente ha conseguido salvar las estadísticas de ventas en Europa en 2009. A ver en qué quedan las cifras de 2010, sin Alemania tirando del carro.
